Where did Poppamies get his name?
I wanted a slightly more special name for this dog that would be related to the origin of the breed, Lapland mysticism and shamanism. I also wanted the name to be somehow related to the kennel name of the breeder who placed the dog with us, because his kennel name is Lovinoidan which also means shaman. This gave me the idea to think about other names with the same meaning and that's how I ended up with Poppamies, which is different and maybe a little funny.
Poppamies came to us to learn the work of a sheepherder and hopefully in the future will help in moving sheep. Poppamies is quite an enthusiastic and energetic, who likes to riot and have fun, but is also a learner, if it happens to amuse him. He often comes up with all kinds of small tricks and a little bit of illegal things. It has also used to run into the sheep pen through the fence netting to play with Central Asian ovcharkas, chase sheeps and eat sheep poop. Poppamies uses his voice a lot and expresses himself specifically with his voice, especially when impatiently waiting for his own food.
Poppamies gets along well with the dogs, cats and sheep of his own pack, but he is usually a bit wary of strange dogs. He loves people, and it thinks it's probably best to be teased as a rascal.
